Osterman Fox and Associates is a full-service stocking electrical manufacturer’s representative agency serving the industrial, commercial, residential, and OEM electrical markets of Upstate New York since 1957. Our line card includes high quality enclosures, devices, cable tray, conduits, fittings, lighting and wire & cable from a wide range of leading manufacturers.
Our company presently employs over 20 employees, including five outside sales representatives, covering the entire Upstate New York area, excluding Metro New York City. In addition, we have a full inside sales support staff giving our customers the ability to speak with a trained inside person when their outside salesperson is unavailable.

We are also presently members of NEMRA, BICSI, EAR and MSS (Market System Solutions). MSS is a strategic alliance of independent representatives covering the United States and Canada involved in electrical, electronics and datacom industries. By sharing best practices and industry improvements in the areas of sales, marketing, business management, and technology our members gain a significant competitive advantage over other manufacturer’s representatives and direct sales offices.
Markets Served
Osterman Fox and Associates actively solicits the industrial maintenance, OEM and Commercial Construction segments of the electrical industry with sales to Electrical Distributors backed by calls on Industrial Plants, Utilities, Engineering, N.E.C.A. and Merit Shop Contractors.
Marketing Philosophy
Sell to Distributors, and then support them with sales promotional work with the user.
Distributor – Promote products by use of sales meetings, counter-days, and person to person contact with inside and outside sales personnel. We recognize that Distributors carry competing product lines, and a strong rapport with the Distributor is actively cultivated with those who may make a selection of products at their own discretion. A strong relationship will result in our products being favored.
Work with purchasing agents in order that our products are well represented on the shelves. Use all material available for visual aids in the counter room, including posters, literature and catalogs. Establish relationship with use of giveaways, business lunches, entertainment, and sporting events.
End users proceed on the understanding that distributors will not normally promote products in the field, and that this is our responsibility. Promote and develop sales in support of the distributor by calling on the industrial plants, municipalities, schools, and contractors.
We work with the distributor’s sales force in the field. Let him take us to his customers to give us an opportunity to present and sell our products on his behalf. In addition, provide extensive training to both Distributor’s sales personnel and end users.
